BOYERSTOWN IMPRESS WITH 8 STRAIGHT WINS!

                          WINNERS BOYERSTOWN        RUNNERS-UP KILCLOON

Boyerstown are back with a bang after a hugely impressive tournament as they won all 8 games in the qualifiers and finals , scoring an amazing 62 goals in the process! Meath champions also in 2011, the experienced management team of Cathal O’ Bric and Mark Ratty certainly know how to bring out the best in their players.

David Monaghan starred in goals s while the skilful Isaac McKeever and Kyle Cosgrave weaved their magic to score many goals  over the 8 games. In defence Christian Nicolenco and Daragh Reilly were mean throughout and showed maturity way beyond their years. The Boyerstown bench saw great contributions from  Adam McEvoy, Ruairí Buchanan and Paul Casserly. Their crucial game against Kilcloon was fiercely fought and ended with Boyerstown eclipsing an outstanding Kilcloon side managed another excellent coach, Charlie O’ Connor, from Galway.

The Kilcloon boys team got off to a very good start with a win against Dangan in their first game thanks to goals by  captain Kevin Donovan and Harry McCahey.Their second game against Gaelscoil na Bóinne saw Kilcloon add another three points on the board with Kevin Donovan, Patrick Kneafsey and David Byrne all on the score sheet .Kilcloon’s third game against Boyerstown proved the decisive game in the group. Even with the precise passing of David Byrne and the wonderful touch of Kevin Donovan, the Boyerstown team were just too strong, finishing 7-4 winners at the final whistle. Kilcloon won their last game of the day against Stackallen to finish runners-up on the day with a very respectable three wins out of four games.

SECTION A GIRLS (48 SMALL/MEDIUM SCHOOLS)

Clinical Kentstown girls capture second Meath title

WINNERS Kentstown NS   RUNNERS UP Stackallen NS

Kentstown Girls, managed by Ann Currane, were worthy winners of Section A for small/medium sized schools when they captured their second Meath title in style . In the qualifiers the girls kept the opposition scoreless in each one of their four games with goalkeeper, Sarah McCarthy, in inspired form and Kentstown scoring a whopping 21 goals in the process!

Twin sisters Aoibhe and Caragh Monaghan were magnificent throughout the tournament and Orla Finnegan and the hugely talented Aisha Ogunyemi in midfield were also key in this memorable triumph. Aisha’s speed and powerful shots from distance proved to be decisive as Kentstown beat Moynalvey 4-0, Baile Ghib 7-0 , Skryne 5-0 and Cortown 5-0 in the qualifiers and Kilmessan again by 5-0 in the play-offs. Clodagh McCormack and Sophie

Lynch up front had a telepathic understanding for much of the time as they notched up many of the goals together. The finals saw the same level of consistency in wins overRathmore (3-0) Kilcloon 3-0 and Runners-Up Stackallen by 3-1. Yet another Meath school with a superb chance of advancing in the North Leinster finals on the 22nd April.
