The first of Wexford’s events was held in the grounds of New Ross Celtic and was coordinated by John Michael Porter assisted by students from CBS Secondary school, New Ross. Local FAI RDO, Paul Sheridan was also in attendance to assist with the event.

29 teams representing 12 schools were entered for the event and the early morning drizzle cleared away to create ideal conditions for the games. In the girls A competition final Poulfur A team defeated a valiant The Rower team on a 3-0 scoreline. In the Boys B competition Davidstown proved too strong for Raheen, winning by 5 goals to nil. The Boys B was a closer affair with Poulfur A and Coolcotts ending level on a 1-1 scoreline. Extra time failed to separate the sides and following a tense penalty shootout Coolcotts emerged victorious on a 5-4 shootout score.

The winning teams now look forward to the South East finals in Arklow on May 9 where they will join winners from the other Wexford competition based in Gorey and the Carlow winners.
